Montron Installs PV System for KELAG

We are very proud that after evaluating our company and engaging in detailed discussions, KELAG has chosen Montron as the installation partner for their large-scale PV systems. In calendar week 28 of 2018, the new 45 kWp rooftop system was installed and commissioned on the roof of the St. Agathen heating plant in Villach, following thorough preparation. The installation was carried out by two of our installation teams, led by Mr. Zechner and Mr. Bürger, with a team of 4 men during the entire week, and even 6 men during the first three days. Our own truck-mounted aerial work platform facilitated the quick and effortless installation of electrical lines and cable channels.

Good planning is a prerequisite
Even before the installation, the composition of the individual PV components, the support system and the electrical components was discussed in close cooperation with Kelag and the deliveries were planned by the suppliers in such a way that the maximum loads of the roof were taken into account. Training of our senior staff by the support system manufacturer was also part of the preparations.

It was important to ensure that no pallet exceeded the maximum load capacity of the flat roof. Another aspect in the distribution of the support system and modules was to ensure the efficient arrangement of installation components on the roof, minimizing travel distances and saving time. The system components and PV modules were lifted onto the roof using a truck-mounted crane.

The installation of PV systems, wiring, and ballasting of the support systems were strictly carried out according to the planning specifications provided by KELAG’s project management. As a licensed Austrian electrical company, Montron performed the complete wiring, including connection of string fuses, surge protection, DC isolators, and inverters.

Safety is a top priority. Both KELAG and Montron involved a safety officer who was fully integrated into the project and provided support on-site. Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and securing against falls was mandatory. Every employee received on-site training, had to wear a safety harness, and was obliged to constantly secure themselves using the anchorage points provided by the construction site.

For our employees, this was nothing new. All of them have received safety training (SCC certificate) and undergo continuous training in both installation techniques and safety procedures. Montron, as a company, is SCC** certified by TÜV.
